3D Logo Creation and Animation

Taking flat 2D logos and creating striking 3D versions

My Process

The very first step in this process is referencing the company's brand logo, making sure to stay consistent with its style and colors. Any brand guidelines from their company website are closely followed.

The next step is to create a clean SVG of the logo using Photoshop and Illustrator for importing into Blender. From there, I then convert the SVG into a mesh and clean up the topology before extruding it into its 3D version. Of course, as it's a metal fabrication company we're talking about here, it was important to create a fairly shiny metal material for the logo.

The icing on this piece: the glowing sparks, taken from a reference of a video showing laser cutting of metal. These were created using particle emitters in Blender + emission shaders as the material.

Some More Great 2D to 3D examples

The following 3D logos were created using the same general process of creating clean SVGs in Illustrator (sometimes creating vectors from scratch), then extruding them into 3D meshes in Blender.
